Killed, thou wilt reach heaven; victorious, thou wilt enjoy the
earth. Wherefore, O son of Kunti, arise, resolved to fight.
3. My notes
The power of perspective is shown here. Arjuna came to war thinking,
"I am going to punish the wrong doers, win my rightful kingdom". Here,
the motivation is self centered. This shocked him, when he realized that
for his benefit he will be killing so many of his relatives.
But, here Krishna puts it in the perspective of duty. He is a warrior,
according to the role assigned to him, he has to protect society from
wrong doers. If he sees the action from this perspective the war is
the right thing to do.
The perspective Krishna is proposing is, "I am going to punish the
wrong doers, because it will lead to a Just and happy society. As a person
born in warrior class, this is my duty."
This perspective, on losing (death), gives him other worldly
benefits. On winning he gets his rightful kingdom.

Motivation of an action should not be self-centered.
